IOF Open Fire at Palestinian Workers in Beit Lahyia

17-2-2010
At app. 11am on Tuesday 16 February 2010, Israeli occupation forces (IOF) positioned at the northern separation fence opened fire on Palestinian workers who were 350 meters away from the separation fence removing rubble from destroyed buildings. These workers collect rubble to sell it to brick factories which recycle it into bricks. This is the only source of bricks for construction that is available in the Gaza Strip, which suffers from an acute shortage of construction materials due the Israeli siege.
At app. 9:30am on Wednesday 17 February 2010, the IOF repeated its attacks on the Palestinian workers who were collecting gravel that is used to pave the roads. There were no casualties or injures in these incidents.
